Calls to Juniper Kennels and Cattery went unanswered during the morning.
A Scottish Police spokesperson confirmed that a report will be forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office in due course.
Officers also said the death is not being treated as suspicious.
They told the Record: “Officers received a report that a man had been attacked by a dog in Kirkton of Auchterhouse around 1.10 pm on Wednesday, December 22nd.
“The emergency services came, however, the 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be delivered to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.”

The popular 55-year-old man died at the Juniper Kennels and Cattery he runs in Kirkton of Auchterhouse, about five miles northwest of the city.
Tragically, the deadly attack orphaned his five children, four of whom are teenagers and one is just 10 years old.
His mother, Eileen, lost a valiant battle with cancer in February 2013, at age 46.
In 2018, the Daily Record recounted how the couple’s youngest son gained thousands of pounds in honor of his mother by walking over the Tay Road Bridge 20 TIMES.
At that moment, Adam couldn’t contain his pride in his son’s amazing feat of endurance …

Tributes
Tributes have come to Adam since the horrible attack Wednesday afternoon on the country kennels.
We spoke with several people from the united village who were devastated by the incident that happened shortly after 1 pm.
They described him as a ‘great man’ who ‘loved his dogs’ and ‘cared for his five children so well’.
A devastated resident told the Record: “It’s such a tragic thing, I can’t believe it, he was a great guy.
“He had raised his five children who will be devastated.
“Adam was a great father to them, he supported them well.
They added: “He lived on the site at the kennels.
“He was always on the go, doing things like charity walks.
“What a sad loss of a great man.”
Writing on the Eileen Watts Tribute Fund website, Adam described his wife’s valiant battle with liver and bowel cancer.
He recounted how brave he was and how the Dundee Maggie Center supported the family.
Describing her fight, he wrote: “She immediately took a hateful attitude towards Cancer and was adamant that she would not stay, ‘as an uninvited guest at a party,’ as she put it.”
He added: “Eileen passed away on February 26, 2013, and our 5 wonderful children and I continue to use Maggie in a group or individual therapy and counseling sessions.
“She has proven to be a source of great comfort and support to us as a family and we are not alone in this.”
A police car was parked behind a closed gate on the small rural property during the day while officers guarded the property.
Locals described seeing a significant amount of activity there last night.
One said: “There were several police cars and at least one ambulance in the kennels in the afternoon.
“It seemed like a really serious incident.
