A woman was jailed for 10 years after violating the probation she was handed for repeatedly raping a 13-year-old boy and making him be her ‘boyfriend.’ Courtney Lee, 24, was handed the sentence at a court in Wichita Falls, Texas, on Thursday after failing to share a change of address, and failure to register as a sex offender. Her 10 and five-year sentences will be served concurrently.
Lee was originally arrested for the sex abuse in 2015 after she and the youngster she was abusing called police to report an unspecified incident. Officers who attended the scene grew suspicious of the relationship between Lee and the boy, who told them he was her ‘boyfriend.’ Lee, who was 19 at the time, later admitted having sex with the child, despite him being four years under the age of consent in Texas.
Charged
She was charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child, but handed a 10-year probationary sentence the following year after telling a judge how she suffered from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, KJTL reported. Lee was arrested again in 2017 after cops who checked in on her were told by housemate George Sapp that she’d moved away to the neighboring city of Ardmore, despite not notifying officials of her plans.
Sapp and his wife were themselves convicted of child endangerment shortly afterward after admitting they’d allowed a woman called Dusti Gamble to have sex with their underage daughter. Lee’s latest sentence has had 1,250 days subtracted from its length for the amount of time she has spent in jail awaiting trial.
