Family & Friends Have Called for Justice
Jackson’s family and friends have called for justice for her and for her killer to be captured. A Facebook page, “Justice for Destiny,” was started to help spread the word about the case. Her family has also criticized the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, saying they were told they had to wait to file a missing person report.
Jackson’s mother, Kalauni Jackson, wrote on Facebook: “Las Vegas operates 24/7, but their police department only operates from 9 a.m. at 5 p.m. Monday to Friday…. Their policy of waiting 24 hours to file a missing person report needs to change. “She added,” My baby didn’t deserve this if you acted when we first reported that my baby was missing early Friday morning, my baby still she would be here with me today. “Jackson also said,” Do your job and catch the cowardly crooks who took her. ”
Jackson wrote, “Baby, we’re not going to rest until justice is served.” According to KVVU, Jackson’s family said police had not yet assigned a detective to the missing person’s case before Jackson’s body was found.
A family member wrote on Facebook: “The LVMPD believes that the Destiny case is just one of many unsolved cases in Las Vegas, especially involving young girls. It doesn’t make sense that her investigation department is closed for the weekend. Las Vegas is a 24-hour city, yet closed on weekends. The hours of the police investigation department must CHANGE. It should be a 24-hour operation just like their casinos. Criminals don’t stop committing crimes on Fridays. JUSTICE FOR THE DESTINY ”.
Another wrote: “This is neither right nor right. The police barely contacted us today and we already found her … but sadly, she is no longer alive. It is unfair and regrettable that we did not have the help and support we needed from LVPD at the time we needed it most. There is an open investigation to help ensure justice, so sadly I cannot share much information. ”
GoFundMe Page
A GoFundMe was started to help Jackson’s family. They want to be able to return her body to California so that she can be buried there.
“This fund for me is to raise funds to help the family find justice for our beloved Destiny, as well as to organize funds to bring her home to Los Angeles so that we can put her to rest,” wrote her cousin, Gladys Toleafoa, in the fundraising page. “She didn’t deserve this and she left her family too soon. We want justice and answers. We thank each and every one of you who have been part of this process, we continue to thank you for your support! Everything helps. If you have any information, please contact LVPD or her family. God bless you!”
