Schoolgirl Fatiha Sabrin was found unconscious on a floor believed to be above where she placed the poison at Nida House on Sutton Street, Shadwell, on Saturday at 4:12 pm.
Sabbir Ahmad, a family friend, said the girl’s father has been trapped in an airport since the tragedy occurred while he was in Bangladesh on a business trip.
Describing Fatiha, Sabbir said: ‘She was a very bright girl. She was at my house eight or nine days ago and I was discussing her future plans.
‘She was very receptive and she told me that she wanted to be a doctor and that she wanted to do something very good with her life.
She “She was also a great writer, she received awards for her writing skills.”

Fatiha Sabrin has died at the age of 11-years-old.

Sabbir said his wife, who arrived at the apartment and found the family in trouble, alerted authorities and called an ambulance.
Fatiha’s mother and brother are recovering in the hospital along with one other person.

Toni Santos Babi, a resident of the block, said: “My roommates and I felt a strange smell in our apartment, and I had a headache, and they had a cough and a sore throat for the last two days.”
She explained: “Around 5 pm, firefighters came into my apartment to measure the levels of some chemicals and found a higher number in the toilet.
