Iona Locke was a Bishop in the state of Michigan.
She was born in Pittsburgh and began her education in the Pittsburgh School System before attending Harty’s Bible School. She then furthered her Christian training and received a doctorate in Theology and Divinity Programs.
Locke has worked in churches around the world, but is best known for being the Bishop of a church in Detroit, Michigan. She was consecrated as bishop on August 23rd 2000.
She is also known for her music and has released many gospel songs.

An official statement from Iona’s family, the Christ Centered Ministries Association and the Abyssinia Christ Centered Church was posted on social media on Friday morning (December 18th) announcing that Iona Locke has sadly passed away.
The announcement quoted a passage from Corinthians before saying:
“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that the Locke family, Christ Centred Ministry Association and the Abyssinia Christ Centered Church announce the Episcopal Transition of Her Grac, Presiding Bishop Iona E. Locke.”
Her cause of death is currently unknown, but the statement said that she had suffered a “season of sickness” before requesting everyone’s “continuous prayers” for her family, church and fellowship.
