Yvonne Ruzich was a retired city sanitation worker. Poice has not yet determined the cause of the morning attack and is seeking the public’s help in locating the suspects. City Councilwoman Susan Sadlowski Garza spoke of the incident, saying, “Yvonne was the kindest person,” adding that Ruzich was well known and loved in the community. “She was the face, she was the person from Baltimore Foods when she walked in, which I just saw on Friday. Every person that came here made her feel special,” she said. So far no arrests have been made in the case.

The incident took place on Monday, August 16, outside of Baltimore Food and Liquors on the south side of Chicago. In a similar incident, a great-grandmother, Soon Kim, 91, was struck and killed by a truck on August 2. Surveillance footage showed the moment 42-year-old Delia Johnson was shot by a murderer on Aug. 3.
The video showed Yvonne Ruzich sitting in her car shortly before 4:30 a.m. Monday, August 16, waiting for her to open the grocery store where she worked when two men in hooded sweatshirts attacked her. Ruzich then stepped on the gas and crashed into a street sign and the two men caught up with her and shot her multiple times. Ruzich was reportedly pronounced dead at a local hospital.
