Cause Of Death
The 32-year-old Hong Kong woman was with three friends at Ha Pak Lai when she slipped and fell at about 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10.
Cheung’s followers flooded her last Instagram post with RIP messages after her death. In her last post, she posed with a surfboard and promised that the future was bright.

“Dear I thought better days are coming when Saturday and Sunday?” one person wrote, with crying emojis. “I will gonna miss your chat every day. I love you always. rest in peace my pretty sofi.”
“RIP doesn’t wanna believe this happened to you,” another person wrote. Her Instagram page lists interests of “hiking, kayaking, explorer, outdoor activities, photography.” “Life should be fun, not dumb,” she wrote in her bio.
The Sophia Cheung Instagram page had 11,700 followers. Her first public photo was posted on February 21, 2021.
The Sun reported that Cheung was taking a selfie with her friends at the edge of a waterfall when she fell 16 feet off Tsing Dai stream near Yuen Long. She and three of her friends were at Ha Pak Lai that day, a nature park.
The Sun reported she lost her footing and fell. Her friends called emergency responders, and she was rushed to a hospital. Tragically, Cheung was dead on arrival, the news outlet reported.
Ha, Pak Lai is near Pineapple Mountain. It is a popular spot for hikers at sunset, The Sun reported. In one photo posted on March 16, Cheung is pictured hanging onto the edge of a rock.
“If you don’t try, you’ll never know,” she captioned the photo. “RIP… the grim caught up with you,” one person wrote in the comments.
Cheung’s Instagram page was filled with photos of a beautiful woman in beautiful places. She often posed on the beach in a swimsuit and in scenic landscapes on hikes. She sometimes posed in precarious positions, paired with motivational captions.

“The world is so much bigger than you thought,” she captioned a photo of herself looking out from an outcropping. “Live in the moment,” she captioned a photo where she was positioned on a rock. “It’s a big world out there. Let’s explore together!” she wrote on March 18, 2021.
